Capital Factory Venture Summit 2019

Capital Factory held its annual Venture Summit in Austin with busloads of entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors coming in from Dallas and Houston on Friday. Joshua Baer and his team (especially their Mentor Manager Caroline Tosbath) put on a phenomenal event and laid out the growth of Capital Factory over the last ten years and gave a glimpse of their truly game-changing future plans. CF accepted 125 companies into the accelerator program this year (with a surprising 40% coming from the DFW area) and is cemented as the most active seed investor in Texas. The CF staff has ballooned to 90 employees with 240,000 sq ft. of space including four full floors of office space in Austin, their (expanding) Dallas building, and their partnership with The Cannon in Houston. The biggest highlight for me was not when I was personally recognized as one of the most engaged mentors (something I’m deeply honored in receiving, along with ten Challenge Coins for each year I’ve been a mentor), but demonstrating the solid proof that the Texas Startup Manifesto is becoming more true every day. I started this Texas-Squared Newsletter originally based on my belief that Texas is a startup region and the individual major cities should work together for the benefit of all.

Thank you Capital Factory for being a driving force in putting Texas on the startup map and for allowing me to be a small part of that over the last decade and hopefully for many more years to come.
